Summer greetings from Swish

The Midsummer weekend is over, and we have now officially started the summer which probably is the Swedes’ most appreciated season. The summer reminds us that we are worth a break. But it also gives us time to reflect on everything we managed to achieve in the first half of 2019.

For Swish, we can state that the last six months have been incredibly energizing. The sale of Majblomman hit record in number of flowers sold with Swish, we have become over seven million Swish users and also received exceptionally high international attention. Swish and Sweden are seen in many places as a role model in modern payment solutions. Something we of are course very proud of. So even though many of us soon go on a well-deserved vacation, we are already looking forward to a fast-paced autumn with exciting projects and new ideas.

Before we leave our office at Drottninggatan for our different summer activities, we have one very exciting event left: Almedalen. Since Swish in a short time has become a socially critical solution for payments, it is of absolute importance to also take responsibility for challenges regarding integrity. In times when new EU directives such as PSD2 and GDPR have come into force, it is more important than ever to discuss the issue of privacy in relation to future trade. What opportunities and threats do we see? How are relationships affected from a social perspective? Will traditional banking roles change? And, what if Sweden becomes a completely cashless society in the near future?

The payments sector is facing many complex issues in the near future. Many of these I will debate and discuss about in Visby before my vacation. However, this is just the beginning. In the autumn I am, together with the rest of the company, back with more fuel than ever. We are already looking forward to it.

Until then: enjoy.

Take the opportunity to replenish the energy account, unwind and devote yourself to things that make you happy. Have a nice summer! We’ll see you soon.
